Austin Sedation Dentistry – Common Questions Regarding Sedation Dentistry

Just like anything else that is new, many people that have never experience sedation dentistry in Austin have questions about the procedure, it’s effects on them, and what they can expect during and after the process is complete.  So, knowing the level of anxiety others may be facing, I went out on the Internet and found the Q&A pages of some Austin sedation dentistry specialists.  Here is a little bit that I was bale to find out for you.

First, it appears that many people have concerns about whether they will be completely unconscious during the procedure, or if they will be completely awake (which I think terrifies people more).  The truth of the matter is that it will depend on the level of sedation they give you.  Most of the time that I visit the dentist I go with a local.  I don’t mind the procedures, and I like to be cognizant of what is going on around me.  However, I did have to have full blow surgery on my mouth once, and for that they gave me cocktail of different drugs that had me out like a light.  In most cases you will simply be put into a very relaxed state to help ease some of the anxiety that you may be feeling.

People are also very concerned about whether they will be monitored while they are under the anesthesia, and the question is yes.  How closely you are monitored will vary from office to office, but typically the dental sedation staff is very interested in your well-being, and wants to make sure that you are responding properly to the procedure.  Again, depending on how much anesthesia you need, you may want to consider having someone there with you to help get you home safely after the procedure as well.  When I underwent my major mouth surgery, I was not fully coherent for the remainder of the day.  Something to think about.
